According to an article published on RadioIowa on November 4, a Wisconsin man has admitted to illegal sexual activity with a minor in Iowa.
Christopher Heath-Lowther, 30, pled guilty to “one count of transporting a minor across a state line with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and one count of transporting a minor across a state line for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct,” according to the news report.
Heath-Lowther, if convicted, faces a variety of serious penalties, including a minimum of 10 years in prison, and up to a life-sentence. He also faces a fine of up to $500,000.
In addition to these potential penalties, many sex crimes convictions result in lasting, if not permanent, penalties, including having to register on a national sex offender registry and register with local law.
